A checklist for moving your Nara history by CSV
This is the hands-on checklist. For what the importer supports and how your file is handled, see the Nara import page; here we focus on doing it cleanly, in order, and fixing what goes wrong.
Before you start
Do these three things first and the rest is easy.
- Export from Nara and keep the original CSV untouched as your backup.
- Work on a copy of the file if you want to inspect it in a spreadsheet.
- Decide which Nurtali child each Nara child should go to, or whether to create a new one.
Step by step
Nara’s menus change between versions, so use Nara’s own help for the export step.
- Export your history from Nara as a CSV file.
- Sign in to Nurtali and open Account, then “Import data from a CSV file”.
- Choose the file. Nurtali reads it on your device and shows a preview.
- Match every Nara profile to an existing child or create a new child.
- If some records are not tied to a child (pumping, for example), choose which profile they belong to.
- Check the counts, confirm, and keep the app open until it finishes.
If something goes wrong
- “Please choose a CSV smaller than 20 MB”: split the CSV into two files (keep the header row in both) and import them in two passes.
- Too many rows (over 25,000): split the CSV into smaller files, keeping the header row in each.
- Rows skipped: Nurtali lists the CSV line numbers. Correct those lines in the copy and import again; already-imported records are skipped.
- Import interrupted: choose the same file again or use “Retry missing records”.
- Medical items missing on Android: the Google Play version is non-medical and skips them.
After the import
- Open History and spot-check a few days against Nara.
- Check each child’s profile and birth date.
- Invite your partner or caregiver so they see the same timeline.
- Keep the original CSV until you are satisfied.
