Move your Nara history

Switch from Nara to Nurtali

Export your history from Nara as a CSV file, then import it into Nurtali. You choose how each Nara profile is matched, preview the result and confirm before anything is saved.

Four steps from Nara to Nurtali

There is no account link between the two apps and no one-tap transfer. The bridge is the CSV file that Nara lets you export.

  1. 1

    Export a CSV from Nara

Use the export option in Nara itself and save the CSV file to the phone or computer you will import from. Menu names can change between Nara versions, so follow Nara’s own help for the current steps. Keep the original file untouched.

  2. 2

    Open the import in Nurtali

Sign in, open Account and choose “Import data from a CSV file”, or use the Import Nara CSV button on this page. Choose the exported file.

  3. 3

    Preview and match profiles

Nurtali reads the file on your device and shows a preview. For every child in the file, choose to merge the history into an existing Nurtali child or to create a new child.

  4. 4

    Confirm the import

Review the counts and confirm. Your history is added in batches with a progress bar. You can safely open other screens while it runs.

What can be imported

Nurtali maps the record types it has a matching place for. The preview shows the exact number of items before you confirm, so nothing is a surprise.

  • Feeding

Breastfeeding, bottles, pumping, combination feeds and solids.

  • Sleep and diapers

Naps, night sleep and diaper changes.

  • Routines and growth

Routine entries, growth measurements and milestones.

  • Parent records

Parent hydration, nutrition, sleep, exercise, routine and journal entries, where your export contains them.

  • Everything else

Other Nara records that have no direct match are saved as notes so the text is not lost.

What is not imported, and why

  • Rows that are malformed, or whose amounts, measurements or times are invalid. Nurtali skips them and lists the CSV line numbers so you can correct the file and import again.
  • Files larger than 20 MB or with more than 25,000 data rows.
  • Photos and attachments. Only the text records in the CSV are read.
  • Anything Nara does not include in its export. Nurtali cannot recover data that is not in the file.

Android version from Google Play

The Android app distributed through Google Play is a non-medical version. When you import there, medical items are skipped: vaccines, appointments, medications, health notes, symptoms, temperature and mood. The preview tells you how many items will be imported and how many are skipped. Other versions of Nurtali do not skip these categories.

How your file is handled

The CSV is read on your device. The original file is not uploaded or stored by Nurtali. After you confirm, only the mapped Nurtali records are sent to your account. Imported records belong to the child you chose and follow the same sharing rules as anything you log yourself.

Matching children and avoiding duplicates

Matching is always your decision, never automatic. Merge a Nara child into a child you already track in Nurtali, or create a new child from the Nara profile. Some records, such as pumping, are not attached to a child in Nara. Nurtali asks which profile they belong to. Importing the same file again, or a newer export that overlaps, adds only records that are still missing. Duplicates are skipped. If an import is interrupted, choose the same file again or use “Retry missing records”. Items that were already saved are not added twice. Before a large import, try a copy of your export first, and keep the original as a backup.

Free to use

Nara CSV import is part of Nurtali Free and does not need a subscription. Once your history is in, you can keep logging feeds, sleep and diapers, and share the timeline with a partner or caregiver. Premium is optional and adds advanced tools only.

Getting the app

Nurtali is currently available through TestFlight on iPhone and a closed test on Android. You can also import from a web browser by signing in at nurtali.com. Nurtali is not currently available in the European Union.

Questions about importing from Nara

Does Nurtali connect to my Nara account?

No. There is no account link and no automatic sync. You export a CSV from Nara and import that file into Nurtali.

Will everything from Nara come across?

Not necessarily. Nurtali imports the record types it can map and skips malformed rows, so it cannot promise a perfect copy. The preview shows what will be imported before you confirm.

Is the import free?

Yes. Nara CSV import is included in Nurtali Free.

Is my CSV file uploaded?

The file is read on your device and is not stored. After you confirm, the mapped records are sent to your Nurtali account.

What if I have more than one child in the file?

Match each Nara child separately: merge into an existing Nurtali child or create a new one.

Can I import the same file twice?

Yes. Records that were already imported are skipped, so a repeat import or a newer overlapping export only adds what is missing.

Why were some rows skipped?

Rows can be skipped when an amount, measurement or time is invalid, or when a category is unsupported. Nurtali lists the affected CSV lines so you can correct the file.

Why are medical items missing on Android?

The Google Play version of Nurtali is non-medical, so vaccines, appointments, medications, health, symptoms, temperature and mood are not imported there.

How large can the file be?

Up to 20 MB and 25,000 data rows.

Should I delete my Nara data afterwards?

That is your decision. Check your history in Nurtali first and keep the original CSV as a backup.
